Bear Creek K-8 B.I.O.N.I.C Club

Bear Creek K-8 B.I.O.N.I.C Club (Believe it or Not I Care...):

This club is composed of several teams. The teams include, the Loss Team, School Tragedy Team, Extended Illness Team, Letter Writing Team,  and the Drama Stopper Team. Anyone is allowed to join the B.I.O.N.I.C Club. The Club promotes awareness of community issues and world issues.

The Loss Team: this team provides cards and food to students and/or staff members who have lost a close family member.

The School Tragedy Team: this team creates posters and encourages other students in the school to sign the poster. So far this year, this team has sent a poster to a school in Wisconsin where there was a school shooting, resulting in the death of a student. They have also sent posters to a school in Michigan where they lost a high school basketball player and a school in Fort Collins, CO, where they lost a high school rugby player. While making the posters, the students discuss their feelings about the issues and it allows them to realize that there is a much bigger world out there.

The Letter Writing Team: this team writes letters to soldiers and other people who have done service for our Country. They recently wrote get well letters to Congresswomen Giffords after she was shot in Tucson.

The Drama Stopper Team: this team helps promote anti-bullying in the school. The team members agree to stay out of the rumor mill, to stop rumors from spreading and to stand up for someone getting bullied. They also go into classrooms and talk about how bullying has affected them throughout their schooling.

The Extended Illness Team: this team gathers homework for students who have been out of school for more then five days due to being sick. They also write get well cards for the students.

The club was created after reviewing the following videos about The Green Mountain High School B.I.O.N.I.C Team. Please watch the following videos:

The Club also does community service projects. One project was done during the Holidays where the students prepared 75 small gift bags and donated them to the Family Tree for kids who are homeless in their shelters. The picture is of the students delivering the gift bags.
